IKON has been awarded the Bild Association of Certified Training Certification through complying with the Restraint Reduction Network (RRN) Training Standards. We completed our documentation during the summer of 2021. On the 18th of November, Jason and James visited the panel and found out that IKON had been successful.
Over the last 12 months, IKON has gone through a comprehensive process involving reviewing our training content and delivery methods. In addition to a detailed assessment of our internal operations and quality assurance processes.
we are delighted to work within the RRN Training standards.
In 2019 The Restraint Reduction Network (RRN) published the Restraint Reduction Network Training Standards. Bild Association of Certified Training (Bild Act) is the body responsible for delivering a scheme for training and service providers that awards certification to organisations that can show evidence that they meet the RRN Standards.
The certification scheme is more than just about the training content and delivery methods. The standards are a comprehensive set of requirements that an organisation must meet before any training is delivered. The seven-step process involved self-assessment in providing evidence against the standards, reviewed by an external assessor, followed by a panel that further reviewed the evidence of meeting the RRN training standards.
It’s not just about the training; it requires a 360-degree approach for organisations to prove they have appropriate mechanisms to support and promote restraint avoidance and reduction.
” …Throughout the process, we’ve demonstrated compliance in all of the standards and submitted documented evidence to demonstrate this. We’ve had a Bild Act assessor review our trainers and training delivery and met with an independent panel to discuss our application. I’m proud that we have achieved this award” – IKON Training Manager, James Crown.
We were approached because of our extensive experience delivering training to acute NHS Trusts, offering a perspective on this sector while going through the process.
Taking part in a pilot assessment has been mutually beneficial. It provided Bild ACT access to our client base (over 50,000 NHS staff represented) and at the same time gave IKON a much deeper understanding of the process and the standards and future collaboration.
In April 2021, the CQC began the inspection of Specially commissioned NHS services (Mental Health, Learning Disabilities, Dementia and Autism).
The review is aligned to the RRN standards and requires all training from a certified provider.
To evidence compliance with the RRN Training Standards, training providers must be certified by Bild ACT, which is currently the only provider of certification against the standards in the UK. IKON Training became a Certified Training Provider in December 2021. Your organisation can now become an affiliate of Bild ACT and RRN via IKON Training as your training provider. We will be happy to send information about the process to become an affiliate to you and your organisation.
Why not take a look at the Standards? How does your organisation meet them? And what evidence can you provide to support your claim?
Or get in touch with a team member to see how we can work together.
