IKON Training featured by ICM (Institute of Conflict Management)

By IKON Training

Last month, an article written by Jason Keeley, our Managing Director and Founder, was featured by The Institute of Conflict Management (ICM). The article examined the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, specifically looking at the role in increased aggression among patients.

When the Covid-19 pandemic first hit the UK in 2020, reports of both verbal and physical abuse towards NHS staff began to rise. Unfortunately, reports confirm the barrage of abuse has not subsided. The number of reported incidents increased, with 75,000 NHS staff experiencing physical violence and aggression from patients, relatives or the public each year.

Jason and James Crown explore how aggression may be a key driver for the increased abuse towards NHS staff. Over the two last years, they have worked with over 40 NHS trusts and healthcare centres and have witnessed the anxieties and pressures from healthcare staff in the face of increased aggression shown by patients.

The ICM is an independent industry body that sets the standards for managing challenging and violent behaviour. They aim to educate trainers and provide voluntary accreditation training schemes within:

  • Health and Social Care (both private and public) sectors
  • Education (both private and public) sectors
  • Security Industry
  • Transport and Haulage (Soon to be confirmed)
  • Conflict Resolution within Retail and Bookmakers

All ICM schemes are recognised nationally by independent and public bodies supporting their aims and objectives and further reducing and monitoring work-related, challenging, aggressive, and violent behaviours.

IKON Training is proud to be recognised as Quality Award Centre by the ICM. All our training courses have ICM-QAC accreditation. This accreditation provides ICM quality assurance of our prevention and management training in health, education and social settings.
