COURSE OUTLINE
PMVA – Prevention & Management of Violence & Aggression Training.
Equip your team with the knowledge and practical skills to prevent, de-escalate, and respond safely to behaviours that challenge. Our PMVA training promotes safer, more respectful approaches to managing challenging behaviour.
The Restraint Reduction Network (RRN) Training Standards safeguard fundamental human rights and promote person-centred, therapeutic approaches when supporting individuals experiencing distress.
As a BILD ACT certified provider, our PMVA training aligns with the RRN Standards and supports organisations to embed least restrictive, lawful and proportionate responses.
Suggested attendees.
PMVA training is designed for staff who may be required to use restrictive interventions within their working environment. This training is often required for staff working in NHS-commissioned services where restrictive interventions may be used.
Our PMVA training promotes a positive culture of care, focusing on safe, respectful, and proportionate responses from staff to respond with confidence while maintaining the dignity and wellbeing of the individuals they support.
- Mental health professionals – Clinical and non-clinical teams who may face high emotion, distress, or aggression. Learn practical de-escalation, dynamic risk assessment and safer responses that protect staff and those in your care.
- Community crisis teams – Teams responding to acute episodes where behaviour can escalate quickly. Build confidence in rapid decision-making, de-escalation under pressure, and safe interventions when risk increases.
- SEND and specialist education staff – Staff working in SEND, alternative provision and high-support environments. Strengthen skills to reduce escalation early and respond safely to behaviours of concern while maintaining duty of care.
- Residential care teams – Care teams supporting individuals with complex needs in shared living environments. Develop calm, therapeutic responses, clear boundaries, and safer interventions to protect everyone involved.
- Clinical leaders and ward managers – Leaders responsible for consistency, safety and staff support. Improve team-wide responses, post-incident learning, and confidence in managing higher-risk situations.
- Social care providers – Frontline staff and managers working with individuals who may present challenging behaviour in community, residential or supported settings. Learn structured approaches to de-escalation, risk reduction, and safer practice.
