In 2019, Sherwood Forest Foundation Trust completed a Training Needs Analysis, identifying departments requiring additional face-to-face training on Managing Challenging Behaviours and Restrictive Interventions.
A policy was devised and introduced with the Trust exploring external training providers to deliver this directly to staff and provide a Train the Trainer program for a wider training rollout. In January 2020, we became the Trust training partner and delivered a Train the Trainer course to internal staff members that was then rolled out to the areas highlighted most at risk. A one-day Managing Challenging Behaviour course offered theory and practical skills to manage incidents with the departments and trust.
Due to the success of this course, the Trust received expressions of interest from other departments to be included in the rollout of the training and requested another Train the Trainer course for a staff member employed to lead on restrictive practices within the Trust; IKON in-house trainers work alongside the Trust, co-delivering the one-day course in conjunction with the Trust lead as this has now been made available to all staff groups working for Sherwood Forest.
