MVA – Management of Violence & Aggression Training for the Local Authority & Housing Sector.

MVA (Management of Violence and Aggression) Training is aimed at enforcement or security staff working in local authority and housing environments where risk can increase quickly, often in public-facing settings and lone-working situations.

Housing and council teams frequently deal with high emotion, complex needs, antisocial behaviour, enforcement decisions, and situations where people feel under pressure. Our MVA Training equips staff with practical skills to carry out dynamic risk assessments, de-escalate effectively and respond safely when situations escalate, helping protect staff, residents, and the wider public.

Tailored for professionals working across housing and local authority services. MVA (Management of Violence and Aggression) training is designed for staff working in those environments where behaviour can become unpredictable, and risk may increase.

In higher-risk environments, prevention alone is not always sufficient. Both teams and individuals must also know how to respond safely if a situation escalates.

Learners will be taught a range of physical skills appropriate to varying risk levels, including non-restrictive relocating techniques, disengagement and breakaway techniques, and safe holding/restrictive techniques when required.

  • Civil enforcement teams – Apply risk reduction and de-escalation skills during compliance and enforcement interactions, keeping boundaries clear while reducing escalation.
  • Housing officers / neighbourhood officers – Manage tense conversations, complaints and conflict confidently, including safer approaches during home visits, follow-ups and resident interventions.
  • ASB (Anti-Social Behaviour) teams – Handle high-emotion cases and escalating behaviour with calm authority, dynamic risk assessment and consistent decision-making.
  • Response teams – Attend incidents and support frontline services with structured approaches to de-escalation, disengagement and appropriate intervention.
  • Lone workers & visiting officers – Strengthen personal safety, risk awareness and safe exit strategies for unpredictable environments and one-to-one interactions.
  • Housing options / homelessness teams – Support people in crisis with confident communication, boundary setting and safer decision-making under pressure.
  • Repairs, maintenance & contractor teams – Manage conflict and aggression during appointments and on-site work, including refusals, disputes and heightened frustration.
  • Managers & supervisors – Build consistent practice across teams, support staff before and after incidents, and lead effective reporting, debrief and learning following incidents.
