Introducing Jason!

At 18, I joined the RAF as a Physical Training Instructor; I had a passion for travelling, loved the outdoors and wanted an active lifestyle, so in 1989 I was on the right path, developing my skills as an adventure training instructor. I had the opportunity to lead groups in the mountains, on white water and the rockface through Wales, Scotland and the Ardeche. Some fantastic experiences included snow and ice climbing and qualifying as a winter mountaineer instructor.
This led me to pursue a career within the Police force. I returned home to Suffolk and utilised my leadership and training skills by working as a Personal Safety Trainer; this role enabled me to formalise my training qualifications and challenging training methods to achieve excellent results for all learning styles.
At that time, I met my wife, Louise Ballard, and the idea of a training company began to formulate. In 2004 we set up a fledgling IKON Training; we left our jobs to concentrate on the company and invested in an office so that we could employ a team.
33 years on, I am still in training, and I feel proud that we have a company where I can support our trainers, our clients, and large organisations to develop their people with the skills we teach to be more confident in their place of work.
My love of an active lifestyle remains true today; I have a busy family life with Louise, four exceptional children, and two cockapoos.
I am fortunate that they share my interests; I am, however, yet to get one of them on the Squash court. This year I plan to complete four triathlons and a week in the Spanish mountains on my bike in September!
My ambition is to build IKON to be a well-regarded training organisation that has made a difference in the lives of the people we work with and teach reducing workplace violence and aggression. Eventually, I want to retire in the sun and spend my days by the water.
